5/6/12

Wow!  This past week was filled with learning.  Sunday through Wednesday I had the wonderful opportunity to attend the International Reading Association Convention in Chicago.  Beginning with Dr. Perry's opening keynote address to my last session about Dinah Zike's foldables for Literature Circles the convention filled me with so many ideas to implement in my classes.  And of course, I got to meet many authors and I filled my suitcase (that was overweight when I flew home!) with many new books.

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of attending EdCamp Birmingham at Trace Crossings School in Hoover, AL.  What an amazing professional development experience!  I am definitely making plans to attend next year.  Thanks to EdCamp sessions, I know have a Twitter account along with a long list of technological tools to utilize in my classes.

Going to conferences and professional experiences such as these reminds me that teaching is truly a passion for me.  It revitalizes my enthusiasm for teaching when I am around others who also feel this way.
